The Missouri Highway Patrol said Robert Matthews, 23, of Chesterfield, and Michelle Higgins, 22, of Arnold, were both injured in the accident. They were taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Matthews was driving a pickup truck south on I-55 in the passing lane. The truck rolled off the left side of the road into the median. Matthews then drove the truck back onto the road, and it struck a guardrail. The accident happened at 7:50 a.m.
