NEOSHO, Mo. (AP) -- Two police officers were shot -- one in the face -- after a traffic stop and pursuit early Friday in southwest Missouri involving a man wanted on warrants.

A manhunt continued Friday afternoon for the suspect, Adam Bridgewater. The officers are expected to recover.

Officer Mike Sharp was shot in the face after a gun was fired through his cruiser windshield, authorities said. He was taken to a Joplin hospital, where he was listed in good condition.

Sgt. Dan Cook, who was shot in the arm, was treated and released.

Neosho Police Chief David McCracken said Bridgewater shot at Cook after the officer stopped him. Bridgewater fled, and officers pursued him, McCracken said.

Bridgewater stopped at one point and fired at Sharp, ending the pursuit, the chief said.

Later, state troopers spotted Bridgewater, and he fired at them before fleeing on foot, McCracken said. It is not clear whether anyone else was injured.

The sport utility vehicle that Bridgewater was driving was found crashed.

The suspect had active warrants for probation violation and property damage, authorities said. In 2005, he was arrested for breaking an aquarium and stealing fish at the Neosho National Fish Hatchery.
