PERRYVILLE, Mo. — Two Perryville motorcyclists were taken by helicopter to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis after a crash with a semitractor-trailer about 7 p.m. Thursday.

PERRYVILLE, Mo. — Two Perryville motorcyclists were taken by helicopter to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis after a crash with a semitractor-trailer about 7 p.m. Thursday.

Larry D. Hecht, 36, and George Tripp, 28, were trying to pass a truck driven by Marshall Edward, 43, of Sparta, Illinois, on their Harley-Davidson motorcycles on Highway 51 just north of Perryville.

The truck made a left turn, which started the crash. Hecht drove into the back end of the truck, and Tripp struck the left side of the truck, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report. Perry County Sheriff Gary Schaaf said Hecht and Tripp were driving at high speed during the crash.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol and Perry County sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene at 6:50 p.m. The crash report described Hecht and Tripp’s injuries as moderate.
