An early morning robbery of a Cape Girardeau convenience store Thursday has landed two men behind bars as suspects, police said.
A clerk at Huck's at 353 S. Kingshighway told police a man entered the store and demanded cash shortly before 2:30 a.m. The man had his right hand in a jacket pocket and pointed it at the clerk, James Harris, as if he had a gun.
"He told the clerk, 'Give me the money' and threatened to blow the guy's brains out," patrolman Jason Selzer said.
When Harris opened the cash drawer, the man reached across the counter, grabbed the about $260 and ran out the door to an awaiting black Chevrolet Camaro. The clerk called police and gave a description of the man and the car, which headed east on Bloomfield.
Within five minutes, police stopped the car at Bloomfield and West End Boulevard. Inside were three men, one of which the clerk identified as the man who took the money, Selzer said.
Prosecutors named Travis M. Davie, 20, of Cape Girardeau, as the man who allegedly robbed the store. He and Shaun L. Riegert, 21, of Chaffee, Mo., were charged with second-degree robbery. Davie is in custody on $75,000 bond and Riegert remains in jail in lieu of $50,000 bond. The third man was not charged.
