WARE, Ill. -- Two men died in a fiery, one-vehicle accident on Illinois 3 early Saturday, two miles south of Illinois 146.

Killed was the driver, David L. Basler, 29, of Cobden and a passenger, Dewayne Dye, 24, of Fulton, Mo.

A passenger, Timothy Joe Law, 36, of Dongola was injured. He was taken to St. Francis Medical Center where he was in stable condition Saturday night.

The accident occurred at 5:10 a.m. Illinois State Police said the vehicle was northbound on Route 3 when it left the roadway on a curve. The vehicle struck a bridge abutment, crashed into a tree and caught fire.

Police said Saturday night that the cause of the crash was still under investigation.
