Two men were in custody Wednesday after an armed robbery Tuesday night on South Sprigg Street, Cape Girardeau police reported.
Aaron Drake, 29, and Laterrius Triplett, 20, were charged with one count each of first-degree robbery and armed criminal action in connection with the case, said Cpl. Darin Hickey of the Cape Girardeau Police Department.
Bond for both men was set at $50,000 cash or surety, Hickey said.
He said a man flagged down an officer shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday near the Rhodes gas station on South Sprigg Street and reported he had just been robbed at gunpoint by a man who left the area in a white car.
The victim, who was not hurt, told police the robber had taken personal items from him, including his cellphone, Hickey said.
A few minutes later, officers stopped a car matching the victim's description of the suspect vehicle and arrested Drake and Triplett, Hickey said.
Police found a weapon and the victim's property in the vehicle, he said.
Both suspects have been in trouble before.
Online court records show in May, Drake pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child and was placed on two years of supervised probation.
Three months later, he pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana and was placed on two years of supervised probation.
Triplett pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property in April 2012 and was placed on three years of probation, online court records show. His probation was revoked in February, when he pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 120 days of shock incarceration and placed on five years of supervised probation, online court records show.
