Two men charged in connection to business burglary, armed robbery

The Cape Girardeau County Sherriff's Department on Thursday announced that prosecutors have filed formal charges against two men in connection to a March burglary at the Bayou Bar and Grill in Pocahontas and a Friday armed robbery of the Amerimart Convenience Store in Old Appleton.

On Monday, deputies arrested 20-year-old Nicholas Adam Zuccarini of Altenburg, Mo., on charges of burglary and stealing, and a probation violation, according to a sheriff's department news release. Bond on the burglary was set at $25,000, cash or surety. Bond for the probation violation was $25,000, cash only.

On Tuesday, 19-year-old Kellen Michael Johnson, of Oran, Mo., was arrested and charged with burglary and stealing in connection to the break-in at the Bayou, the department reported. His bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety.

Sheriff's investigators on Thursday applied for charges against the two men for the armed robbery of the Amerimart Convenience Store in Old Appleton, which took place last Friday, according to the release. The men were charged with first-degree armed robbery and armed criminal action in connection to the robbery. Bond for each is set at $50,000 cash only for the robbery and armed criminal action charges.
