The Cape Girardeau Police Department's summer campaign against drug dealers and users netted two arrests at a Cape Gir-ardeau motel Tuesday.
Twonne Turner, 32, 735 William St., No. 6, and his cousin, Deandre M. Turner, 22, 323 S. Hanover St., were arrested after Cape Girar-deau police and members of the SEMO Drug Task Force executed a no-knock search warrant at the Sands Motel, 1448 N. Kingshighway, said Cape Girardeau police Cpl. Jason Selzer.
Selzer said the warrant was obtained after police "received information" that the two had been making crack cocaine in a room at the motel. Officers arrived at the motel around 5:45 p.m. and found Deandre Turner still in a motel room, while Twonne Turner was getting in his vehicle to leave the motel, Selzer said.
Twonne Turner tried to escape but uniformed and undercover police blocked his exit from the motel parking lot, Selzer said. Twonne Turner has a history of drug crime, Selzer said, with convictions for trafficking cocaine base in July 2005 and sale of a controlled substance in February 2005.
During the search police found cocaine base and marijuana in Twonne Turner's possession and instruments for making crack from cocaine base in Deandre Turner's possession, Selzer said.
Twonne Turner is charged with felony possession of cocaine base, a felony of intent to distribute marijuana and a misdemeanor of resisting arrest. His bond is $50,000, cash-only.
Deandre Turner is charged with felony attempt to manufacture a controlled substance his bond is $40,000.
