Two men were arrested Wednesday night and charged Thursday for an armed robbery at St. Joe's General Store in Perryville, Missouri.

Mikeem Raytez Daniel, 25, of Haywood City, Missouri, and Daniel Lee Gipson, 21, of Oran, Missouri, were charged with felony robbery, armed criminal action, felonious restraint, unlawful use of a weapon, theft, unlawful possession of a firearm and misdemeanor stealing.

An employee of the store called 911 at 11:32 p.m. Wednesday and said a man wearing a black jacket and brandishing a silver-barreled handgun came through the back door, according to a probable-cause statement by Perryville police officer Nathan James.

The man pressed the gun against the employee's side, grabbed her neck and placed his arm around her, James wrote. He demanded money from the register and the employee's wallet, James wrote. He left the store and hopped into a white Chevrolet Suburban.

Two minutes later, James received a call from Perry County sheriff's deputies, saying they had stopped a vehicle matching the description from the robbery on Old Ste. Mary's Road near North Perryville Boulevard, James wrote.

At the scene of the vehicle stop, James wrote he saw Gipson and Daniel in the vehicle and spotted a multicolored wallet matching a description from the victim.

James wrote he obtained consent from Daniel to search the vehicle and found a black 9 mm pistol with a round in the chamber. Gipson volunteered to empty his pockets, and $349 in small bills was revealed.

During a voluntary interview with Perryville police, Daniel said he had picked up Gipson at an undisclosed location after Gipson left the house where they were staying at to clear his head, James wrote. Daniel could not explain how the victim's wallet was found under the seat in the vehicle.
