CHARLESTON, Mo. -- A four-day search by law enforcement led to the arrests of two Charleston men wanted in connection with a shooting.
Lamarcus Williams, 18, and Jadarius McCain, 19, were arrested Saturday in Cape Girardeau in connection with a shooting Tuesday in Charleston. The men are charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action and property damage.
The arrests stem from an incident which began at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday when the Charleston Department of Public Safety received a call of a person shot. Officers responded to the 400 block of Walhausen Street where they found Jevon Betts, 18, of Charleston.
Betts, who had several gunshot wounds, was airlifted to a hospital for treatment.
"During the investigation, two suspects were identified," according to Charleston DPS Director Robert Hearnes. "Warrants were issued for the suspects on the afternoon of June 10. Area law enforcement agencies were notified and officers began searching for them."
According to Hearnes, on Saturday afternoon, information was received that Williams and McCain were in Cape Girardeau. Both suspects were arrested by Cape Girardeau police.
Williams and McCain are in the Mississippi County Jail. Bond is set at $250,000 cash-only for each of the men.
Betts remains hospitalized in serious condition, Hearnes reported in a news release.
Hearnes said the shooting still is being investigated. Anyone with information is urged to call the Charleston police at 573-683-3737.
