Two Southeast Missouri residents were injured in separate accidents Tuesday morning.

A Cape Girardeau man was in the intensive care unit at Southeast Missouri Hospital Tuesday after his vehicle struck a parked tractor-trailer on Interstate 55.

Geronimo Cantu, 26, was listed in serious but stable condition Tuesday night. He suffered serious injuries in the accident, which occurred at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Cantu's 1975 Dodge was southbound on the interstate when it ran off the right side of the road and struck a parked tractor-trailer.

The accident occurred 10 miles north of Jackson.

In a separate accident in Scott County, a Sikeston woman suffered moderate injuries Tuesday after her vehicle struck a bridge railing and overturned.

Angela Rice, 30, was transported to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston after the accident, which occurred at 9:10 a.m.

The accident occurred when Rice lost control of her northbound 1991 Isuzu, which struck a bridge railing and overturned. The accident happed on Interstate 55, seven miles north of Sikeston.
