Two people were injured Monday in separate accidents in Southeast Missouri. Two people were injured Monday in separate accidents in Southeast Missouri.

Nidrell Lyons, 18, of Charleston was taken to Perry County Hospital in Perryville after his vehicle overturned on I-55, a mile south of Route M, at 3:50 a.m. Monday.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reported that Lyons apparently fell asleep at the wheel and drove off the right side of the roadway. His vehicle traveled down an embankment and struck a concrete culvert before overturning.

A two-vehicle accident occurred on Route V, 3 miles north of Leora in Stoddard County at 5:17 p.m. Monday.

Thurma Willard, 63, of Puxico was taken to Dexter Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, Allen Wilson, 34, of Puxico, was not injured.

The Patrol reported that the accident occurred as the Willard vehicle pulled into the path of the Wilson vehicle on a hilltop. The Wilson vehicle struck the Willard vehicle, causing it to catch fire.
