BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. -- Two people died Friday in a collision involving a vehicle traveling against traffic on Interstate 70, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

The crash killed 21-year-olds Justin W. Dyer of Oak Grove, Mo., and Amy A. Bibley of Kansas City, Mo. Both were passengers in a vehicle that was headed east on I-70 and was struck by a vehicle that was westbound in their lane, according to the patrol.

The driver of the second vehicle was identified by the patrol as Richard S. Peden, 18, of Independence, Mo.

He was hospitalized with serious injuries.
