DEXTER, Mo. -- Two police officers were injured and a suspect is in custody following a vehicle pursuit in Dexter early Saturday morning.
At 12:58 a.m., a Dexter officer attempted to stop a pickup truck for a city ordinance violation, according to a news release from the Dexter Police Department. The driver failed to yield, and a pursuit began.
"During the course of the pursuit, the suspect struck two Dexter patrol cars, causing substantial damage to both cars," the news release said.
The suspect was eventually forced off the roadway by another Dexter officer. The driver fled on foot and was apprehended a short time later.
The two officers involved in the pursuit, as well as the suspect, were taken to Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter and treated for minor injuries and released.
The driver's name is being withheld pending the filing of charges by the Stoddard County prosecuting attorney.
