BENTON, Mo. -- An area couple have been charged with stealing a motor vehicle.
Stacy A. Reid, 38, of Jackson and William R. Crass, 30, of Frohna, Mo., are being held in the Scott County Jail on $2,000 cash bonds.
Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter said his office received a report of a stolen motor vehicle from the Dollar Store in Benton, Mo., late Monday afternoon. A motor vehicle accident was reported on County Road 321 shortly after. The stolen vehicle from the Dollar Store was determined to be involved in the accident. A deputy found Reid and Crass walking from the scene of the accident with several items from the stolen vehicle, authorities said. The two were identified by the driver of the other vehicle as those who left the scene of the accident.
Walter said Reid and Crass were involved in a trespassing and stealing incident earlier in the day in the Miner, Mo., area.
