JONESBORO, Ill. -- Two Union County, Ill., women have been indicted on drug-induced homicide charges, Union County State's Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds in a statement Monday.

A grand jury returned with charges against Angie V. Liljegren, 56, and Sandra L. Smith, 52, both of Dongola, Ill., in connection with the death of Zane Smith in 2011. Liljegren was charged with one count of drug-induced homicide and one count of concealment of a homicidal death. Smith was charged with one count of drug-induced homicide and one count of obstructing justice.

Smith was found dead at Liljegren's residence Sept. 16, 2011. Liljegren and Smith were indicted earlier this month after a yearlong investigation by the Illinois State Police and Union County Sheriff's Department. Liljegren and Smith were taken into custody Monday and are being held on $150,000 bonds at the Jackson County Jail in Murphysboro, Ill., Their first court appearance is set for 9 a.m. Tuesday in Union County Courthouse in Jonesboro.
