Authorities on Friday announced the arrests of two men in connection with a series of recent home burglaries.
Xavier Dee Canada, 23, and Steven R. Johnson, 27, both of Cape Girardeau, were arrested after a joint investigation by the Cape Girardeau Police Department and the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department.
Canada and Johnson each was charged with three felonies. Canada was charged with burglary, stealing and stealing a firearm, and Johnson was charged with burglary, stealing and receiving stolen property, according to a news release from the sheriff's department.
The men were arrested after a search Thursday night at a residence on the west side of Cape Girardeau. Another home and multiple vehicles also were searched, according to the release. Electronics, jewelry and firearms were among the recovered stolen items.
Bond for each of the men was set at $25,000 cash or surety, along with conditions that they cannot possess a firearm or leave the state. They are in custody at the Cape Girardeau County Jail.
Additional charges and arrests are anticipated in connection to the burglaries, according to the sheriff's department.
