BENTON, Mo. -- The arrest of a burglary suspect who was walking through a field near Oran, Mo., resulted in the recovery of a large amount of stolen property, the Scott County sheriff said.
Kevin W. Stacy, 41, was contacted by a deputy as he walked Tuesday night just north of Oran, Sheriff Bill Ferrell said. An area resident had reported a suspicious person in the area.
Stacy told the deputy he had had car trouble, so the officer drove him back to his car in Oran.
The deputy followed Stacy as he drove away, and after Stacy had driven to his residence in Sikeston, Mo., the deputy obtained a search warrant and found numerous items thought to have been stolen from homes in Scott, Cape Girardeau and other counties.
Stacy was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property. He is being held in the Scott County Jail on a bond of $100,000.
Also charged in the burglaries was April A. Jurkiewics, 28, of Sikeston. She is being held on a $10,000 bond.
