SIKESTON, Mo. -- Two men have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 19-year-old Sikeston man on Thursday, police said.
Police were awaiting charges from the Scott County prosecutor's office after Reggie Sales was shot Thursday morning in the 600 block of Cleveland St., Capt. Dan Armour said.
Charges are also being sought against a third man, who had been in custody on unrelated charges but was present at the scene of the shooting, Armour said.
When police responded to the shooting, which was reported at 11:38 a.m., Sales body was found on the ground between two houses. He had received a gunshot wound in the chest, police said.
Sales was transported to Missouri Delta Medical Center in full cardiac arrest. He was pronounced dead at the hospital after emergency attempts to save his life failed, police said.
Although the incident occurred on housing authority property near Lee Hunter Elementary School, no other injuries were reported.
