Two men were arrested after they allegedly robbed another man at gunpoint during a drug deal Tuesday in Cape Girardeau.
Michael R. Fitzpatrick, 32, of Hannibal, Mo., and Rico F. Lucious, 21, of Cape Girardeau were arrested and charged Wednesday with first-degree robbery, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a concealable firearm.
Around noon Tuesday, officers were dispatched to the area of Christine and Bloomfield streets for an armed robbery call. When officers arrived, the victim said an alleged drug transaction was to take place between him and another man, according to police spokesman Darin Hickey.
The victim said he was forced at gunpoint into the drug dealer's vehicle, Hickey said. Once inside the vehicle, the victim said another man pulled out a shotgun and demanded money. The victim said he gave the suspects all the money he had, Hickey said.
The victim then got out and the two suspects left the scene in the vehicle, Hickey said.
Through an investigation involving officers from the Cape Girardeau Police Department, Jackson Police Department and SEMO Drug Task Force, the suspects were located. Fitzpatrick and Lucious were arrested at a home in Jackson, Hickey said.
A shotgun was found outside the home under a pile of other items.
Fitzpatrick and Lucious are being held in the Cape Girardeau County Jail on $100,000 bond.
