Twenty-two senior Girl Scouts will receive the Gold Award on June 6 at Academic Auditorium on the Southeast Missouri State University campus. The Gold Award is the highest recognition given to a Girl Scout. To achieve this honor, ~girls ~~are required to achieve the leadership award, career exploration pin, give service, earn at least four interest patches, and complete the Senior Girl Scout Challenge. Twenty-two senior Girl Scouts will receive the Gold Award on June 6 at Academic Auditorium on the Southeast Missouri State University campus.

The Gold Award is the highest recognition given to a Girl Scout. To achieve this honor, ~girls ~~are required to achieve the leadership award, career exploration pin, give service, earn at least four interest patches, and complete the Senior Girl Scout Challenge. Each girl designed and carried out her own Gold Award project.

In addition, 39 graduating senior Girl Scouts will be honored at the ceremony, which begins at 2 p.m. Fifty cadette Girl Scouts will receive the Silver Award.

Four members of Girl Scout Troop 122 receive the Gold Award: Raeshonda Foster, Angie Keys, Melissa Simmons, and Mary Stewart.

Foster, the daughter of Robert and Lillie Foster, is co-president of Cape Central High School Student Council and active in band. After graduating this spring, she plans to attend Murray~~ State University and major in political science or social work.

Keys, a student at Cape Central High School, is the daughter of Eddie and Colleen Keys. She served the feature editor of the Tiger Newspaper this year. She is an active member of the New Life W~orld Outreach Center youth group and plays softball in the summer league.

Simmons is the daughter of John and Christine Simmons of Cape Girardeau and Ken Long of Advance. She will graduate from Cape Central High School in June. While at Cape Central, she was active in anthology club, Tiger newspaper and Student Senate. She plans to attend Southeast ~Missouri State University and pursue a nursing career.

Stewart, daughter of Darrell and Denise Stewart, is a graduating ~~~ senior at Cape Central High School. She plans to attend Southeast Missouri~ University and major in education.

Four members of Cape Girl Scout Troop 255 will receive the Gold Award. They are Lorie Bollinger, Anna Fornkahl, Catherine Stein and Ginger Schwab.

Bollinger, daughter of Ron and Jean Bollinger, is a senior at Cape Central High School. She has been treasurer~ and vice president of FBLA, and is active in patriotic club and the chamber choir. She is a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church where she is active in the handbell choir and the youth group. She was named to W~ho's Who Among American High School Students and plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University to major in history.

Fornkahl, daughter of Ron and Glenda Fornkahl, will graduate from Cape Central High School this spring. She was active in FBLA, serving as District 15 president and secretary, and in her local chapter as reporter, secretary and president. She is secretary of Student Senate and is also involved in National Honor Society, patriotic club, marching band and varsity concert band. She is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she is a member of the handbell and adult choir and youth group. She plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University to major in accounting. She has been awarded the President's Scholarship and the Missouri Leadership Award.

Stein, daughter of Neil and Carolyn Stein, is a graduating senior at Cape Central High School. She has been active in Student Council, Beta club, National Honor Society, volleyball, and Pom Pom Squad. She is an active member of the Centenary United Methodist Church.

Schwab, daughter of John and Marilyn Schwab, is a graduating senior at Cape Central High School. Her school activities include: Student Council, Future Homemakers of America, Future Teachers of America, orchestra, Pep Club and Spanish Club. She was named to Who's Who in America's High School Students. She is a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church w~ere she is involved in the youth group and works on the church's camp staff. She plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University to major in elementary education.

Five members of Troop 1 have qualified for the Gold Award. They include: Emily Fisher, Lisa Hoffman, Shannon ~~Hagan, Paula Welker, and Luisa Virginia Stone.

Fisher, daughter of Rita and Tim Fisher, is a senior at Notre Dame High School. She is a member of the National Honor Society, concert choir, Students Against Drunk Driving, and a Student Council representative. She has been a cheerleader for four years and is president of the Pep Club. She also participated in the Missouri Freedom Forum at Southeast Missouri University.

~Hoffman, daughter of Rick and Mary Ann Hoffman, is a graduating senior of Notre Dame High School. She has been involved in the school musicals and is the secretary of National Honor Society. She plans to major in journalism and literature at Missouri University-Columbia this fall.

Hagan, daughter of Patrick and Karen Hagan, is a member of National Honor Society at Notre Dame High School. She is also on the newspaper staff and is co-editor of the yearbook. She was involved with the production of the high school musicals, and represented her school at Girl's State. She plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University next fall.

Welker, daughter of Jerry and Charlotte Welker, is a member of National Honor Society, Scholar Bowl, concert choir, and was involved with the production of the musicals at Notre Dame High School. She attended Missouri Freedom Forum and the Missouri Government Day. She is also lector and song leader for St. Vincent de Paul Parish. After graduation, Paula plans to attend the St. Louis College of Pharmacy.

Stone, daughter of Hugh and Mati Stone, is a senior at Notre Dame High School where she has been active in Scholar Bowl, concert choir, and the school musicals. After graduation, she will be attending the University of Missouri at Columbia where she hopes to become a physician.

Five members of Troop 241 in Jackson will earn their Gold Award on June 6. They include: Dana Jost, Dawn Makins, Dawn Peetz, Megane Slinkard and Tina Wills.

Jost, daughter of James and Doris Jost, attends Jackson High School where she is a member of the Drama Club, JAM, Quill and Scroll, Speech Team, 4-H, Jackson Saddle Club, Pep Band and French Club. After graduating, she plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University and major in a nursing career.

Makins, daughter of Dan and Sue Makins, attends Jackson High School where she has been active in Honors Band, achieving All-State in flute competition; Jobs Daughters, concert band, and choir. In Girl Scouting, a special interest has been achieving training to be a wrangler in the council horse program. After graduation, she plans to attend college - majoring in psychology and music therapy.

Peetz, daughter of Elmer and June Peetz, attends Central High School where she is a member of the Vocational Industrial Club of America. She is also a member of the Grace United Methodist Church youth handbell choir. She ~plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University and major in nursing.

Slinkard, daughter of Jim and Barbara Slinkard, attends Jackson High School where she was active in SADD club, FBLA, Pep Band, marching band, concert band, Drama Club, JAM and Spanish club. After graduation, she plans to go to college and major in business management.

Wills, daughter~~~ of Jim and Martha Wills, attends Jackson High School where she is active in Pep band, marching band, symphonic band, Drama Club, and JAM. She was named to Honors Band, district band and the state band. She plans to attend college after graduating from high school.

Tonia Miller of Lick Creek, Ill. will also earn her Gold Award. She is a member of Troop 222 in Anna, Ill. The daughter of John and Clarinda Miller, she attends Anna-Jonesboro Community High School where she participated in sports, Spanish Club, FHA, and was an Alpha Peer Leader. She was named to Who's Who Among High School Students. After graduation, she plans to attend Shawnee Community College and major in psychology.

Another Gold Award recipient is Christy Van Gennip of Troop 271 in Marble Hill. She is the daughter of Robert and Laverne Van Gennip of Glen Allen, and is a student at Woodland R-4 High School. She is a member of 4-H, Beta Club, and high school band. She plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia, to major in genetic research.

Two members of Troop 107 of Jackson will earn their Gold Award. They are Amy Calahan and Jennifer Reisenbichler.

Reisenbichler is the daughter of Randy and Patty Reisenbichler of Jackson. She attends Jackson High School, where is a drum major for the band and a member of the speech team and drama club. She competed in district and state levels for band, and made district band the last two years.

Calahan is the daughter of Mike and Joan Calahan of rural Cape Girardeau. She attends Jackson High School, where she's a member of SADD and FHA.
