Fugitive murder suspect Tambra Turner waived extradition today during an appearance before a Chicago judge.

Turner, wanted for the February 2008 killing of Chabreasha Egson in Cape Girardeau, did not contest her arrest when she went before Judge Israel Desierto, Branch 98 clerk Betty Williams said.

Turner was the subject of a federal fugitive warrant for the murder and for assault and drug charges out of Scott County. She waived extradition on the murder charge, Williams said.

Turner had been on the run since the killing at Egson's North Spanish Street home. But she was arrested without incident by Chicago Police Department officers who set up surveillance on a residence based on an informant's tip, said Officer Michael Fitzpatrick, a spokesman for the department.

"They then observed [Turner] about to enter the location of the arrest," Fitzpatrick said. "They asked her for her name, she stated it was Tambra Turner and she was arrested."Turner had been featured on "America's Most Wanted," most recently on the program's "15 seconds of shame" segment.

Officers from the Cape Girardeau County-Bollinger County Major Case Squad traveled to Chicago today to interview Turner. They did so along with representatives of the FBI, Fitzpatrick said.

No information was immediately available on whether those officers will bring her back to Missouri or when she would arrive.
