Retail store Tuesday Morning opened its new location on Siemers Drive to the public for the first time Friday.
Manager Calie Wilson said the decision to move was based on the location. The new site is much larger and considerably brighter, she said. The extra space provides the store with expanded storage room, Wilson said.
In the first hours of opening day, dozens of customers roamed the brightly lit showroom, browsing everything from food to bedding to appliances. According to the Tuesday Morning website, the store offers mid- to high-end closeout merchandise in a “no frills” environment.
Tuesday Morning originally came to Cape Girardeau in 2002 when it opened in the Town Plaza. The store operated there until March 6, at which point the staff set to work relocating inventory over the next four days.
“We were open until Sunday, and then we shut it down and got it all over here,” Wilson said, standing in the sales floor of the new location.
Furniture, housewares, luggage, toys and everything else the store stocks had to be packed and moved to Siemers Drive.
“It took a lot of manpower, Wilson said.
