Cape Girardeau is on the edge of the weather system, but another front may move through resulting in additional accumulation, or a wintery mix of snow, ice, and sleet, according to a severe weather conference call Thursday.

Travel conditions will remain very hazardous until the heavy snow warning is over, according to the national weather service. Drivers are urged to avoid traveling long distances if possible, and make sure they have extra food, blankets, and a flashlight in their vehicle.
