Reducing the speed limit and restricting traffic will help cut the risk of accidents in the construction area, Lester said.

The project, with an estimated $1.7 million price tag, is scheduled to be completed Dec. 21.

Planned improvements include widening the road to 36 feet, improving intersection sight distances, providing safer turning onto Perryville from residential streets and improving drainage in the area.
