No one was injured when a tractor-trailer carrying about 30,000 pounds of automobile parts overturned on Interstate 55 in the Cape Girardeau city limits Sunday morning, police said.

About 10:15 a.m., the tractor-trailer was southbound in the right lane near the Lasalle Avenue exit when a black passenger car cut in front of it, the unidentified tractor driver told police.

The driver swerved to avoid the vehicle and lost control, police said. The truck traveled into the median, struck the cable barrier and overturned.

Southbound traffic was blocked while crews righted the tractor-trailer and cleaned up the scene, police said.
