Members of the Fruitland Fire Protection District work the scene of a tractor-trailer accident Tuesday along the northbound lanes of Interstate 55 just north of exit 111. A truck driver was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries after the single-vehicle crash. Benjamin A. Rackley, 44, of Tupelo, Mississippi, was driving a 2006 Peterbilt north on Interstate 55 about 10:25 a.m. when he swerved to avoid another vehicle, ran off the road to the right and overturned, damaging the 111.8-mile marker and a large, green information sign and totaling the Peterbilt, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
