Betty Domenoe, president of TOPS Club, Inc., will be keynote speaker during the groups's state convention, to be held at the Arena Building in Cape Girardeau Friday and Saturday.
More than 1,200 Missouri members of Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) Clubs are expected for the two-day event.
Domenoe, who was elected president of the board of directors in November of 1992, became only the second president of the 44-year-old organization. She succeeded Esther S. Manza, founder of the TOPS.
Domenoe will discuss TOPS' approach to weight control and describe the growth of the organization the oldest major diet organization in the U.S.
Domenoe has been active in TOPS since 1955. She became a board member in 1959, and is also regional director in several states including Missouri.
TOPS was founded in 1948 and has grown to more than 300,000 members worldwide.
Missouri's "King" and "Queen" the man and women who have lost the most weight to their goal among Missouri's 7,600 TOPS members will be named during the convention ceremonies Saturday. This year's queen has lost 160 pounds, and the king has lost 49 3/4 pounds. The event will also honor other weight losers from throughout the state.
