The Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department on Friday was investigating a burglary that occurred just outside Jackson sometime after 8:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Lt. Robert Hull.

When employees arrived for work early Friday at Gearheads Auto Repair, 3961 Highway 25, they found that about $30,000 in tools, computers and other diagnostic equipment was missing from the store, said store owner Amy Ybarra.

"There was a substantial amount of tools and stuff taken, but that's all I know right now," Hull said.

The entire back door to the business, including the frame, had been pried off the structure, Ybarra said. She said that in addition to equipment, the thieves had taken keys to all the vehicles left at the business for repairs. No cars had been stolen, she said.
