Tony L. Smee has joined the Southeast Missouri Boy Scout Council's professional staff as the Shawnee District executive, announced Scout Executive Mark Wappel.
Smee will work at the Council's district headquarters in Cape Girardeau. He began his duties Jan. 1.
As part of his duties, Smee will oversee activities of more than 500 adult volunteers in the district. He will also work with local corporations and businesses in securing donations for Scouting.
He also serves as professional adviser to the individual units to ensure that the policies of Boy Scouting are carried out at the unit level.
Smee has a long history of Scouting experience in Southeast Missouri, serving as a Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Eagle Scout, Council lodge chief of Anpetu-We Lodge, and as a member of Order of the Arrow.
As an active volunteer scouter in the Shawnee District, he has helped on the district committee and with the Scouting for Food drives.
Previously, he worked as art director at Magnetic Collectables in Cape Girardeau. A native of Bernie, he graduated from Bernie High School. He earned his bachelor of arts degree from Southeast Missouri State University. He resides in Cape Girardeau with his wife, Tamara.
