JACKSON -- Dr. Nelson L. Stone, doctor of veterinary medicine and mixed animal practitioner here, was recently elected for a third term as secretary-treasurer of the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA).
Stone served the MVMA the past two years as secretary and has been a member of the organization's executive board, representing the Southeast Missouri District, three years. He has served on a number of MVMA committees.
Stone is a 1955 graduate of the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation he served in federal meat inspection in St. Louis for more than a year, then moved to Jackson where he entered general practice in partnership with another veterinarian. In 1962 he purchased full ownership of the practice.
He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Missouri Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Bovine Practitioners, American Association of Swine Practitioners, Society for Theriogenology and Southeast Missouri Veterinarian Medical Association. He previously served as president of the local VMA.
He is also a member of several local organizations include the SEMO Humane Society, Jackson FFA Chapter, and Mastitis Council.
