MOUNDS, Ill. -- The chore of moving seven million pounds of old tires that have been stored here is expected to get under way within 90 days.

"We've been talking to a lot of people since we learned of the tires' existence," said Richard E. Burket of Archer Daniels Middling Co. (ADM) of Decatur.

"Our intent is to get the tires off our property," said Burket. "We think the tires will be gone within 90 days."

The tires had been placed at the ADM-GrowMark site here while the property was under lease.

"We understand that a tire recycling center had been planned for the area, but it didn't work out," said Burket.

"The tires were left there at that time," he said.
