MARBLE HILL -- Three Marble Hill residents remain hospitalized Monday, one in critical condition, the result of a one-vehicle accident Sunday.

A spokesperson for the Missouri Highway Patrol said the accident occurred when the driver of the vehicle, Eric Maurer, lost control, causing the vehicle to strike a tree and overturn.

Maurer, 19, and a passenger, John Nanney, 21, received moderate injuries.

A second passenger, Stephanie Lossing, 17, received serious injuries, the patrol said.

Lossing was listed in critical condition late Monday at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Maurer was listed in stable condition and Nanney in serious but stable condition, according to a hospital spokesperson.

The patrol said Lossing had been thrown from the vehicle.

The accident occurred at 7:50 p.m. along Highway 34, one mile west of Marble Hill.
