Three people were hospitalized after a car crash Tuesday afternoon at Pacific and Independence streets in Cape Girardeau.
At 3:49 p.m., a white Ford Fusion and blue Dodge Caravan collided, and the Caravan then rolled onto its side.
Two people in the Caravan were extricated from the vehicle and taken to a hospital, as was a man from the other vehicle.
Cape Girardeau Police Sgt. Adam Glueck said it is unknown what caused the accident.
Shirley Davis, who lives on Pacific Street near the scene of the accident, believes a recently removed traffic light is to blame.
"It needs to go back up," Davis said. "What's it going to take to get them back up? Someone to die? We all knew this was going to happen."
Since the lights were removed in May, Davis said, she believes there have been at least five accidents at the intersection.
