Three Poplar Bluff, Mo., residents were fatally injured in a three-car accident Sunday afternoon in Butler County. Christian Limpert, 31, Jerry Payne, 65, and Giles Simpson, 68, all of Poplar Bluff, died as a result of injuries received from the accident. Dorothy Payne, 55, and Angela Simpson, both of Poplar Bluff, received minor injuries. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred as Limpert's truck lost control on wet pavement as he was traveling northbound on U.S. 67. The truck crossed the center line and struck Payne's Ford Explorer, which was traveling southbound. Another vehicle driven southbound by Gregory Tadych, 30, of Desloge, Mo., was also struck. He received no injuries from the accident. Both Payne and Simpson were pronounced dead on the scene and Limpert died later at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
