Three area students are among 651 seventh-grade students in Missouri recognized for academic achievement by TIP, the Duke University Talent Identification Program.
Adam Andrews, who attends Scott City Junior High, was selected, as were Scott Essner of St. Augustine School in Kelso and Nick Underwood of Woodland Junior High School in Marble Hill.
Students scored as well or better than the average college-bound high-school senior on either the Scholastic Aptitude Test or the American College Testing Assessment.
TIP's talent search identifies seventh-graders in 16 states who have scored in the top 3 percent on a national achievement test.
Andrews is the son of Robert and Pat Andrews of Scott City. Essner is the son of Jerome and Beverly Essner of Scott City Route 1, and Underwood is the son of Rick and Myra Underwood of Marble Hill.
