Three people were injured in accidents Friday and Saturday in Southeast Missouri, the Highway Patrol said.

A Bernie man was injured in a one-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon on Route D, two miles east of Malden in New Madrid County.

The Highway Patrol said Curtis Oliver, 73, was eastbound when the accident occurred at 2:30 p.m.

The vehicle ran off the south side of the road. Oliver over steered in an effort to get the vehicle back on track, the patrol said. The vehicle ran off the north side of the highway and overturned. Oliver was thrown from the vehicle.

He was transported by air ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center.

Nicholas Cribbs, 18, of Dexter was injured in a three-vehicle accident at 9:38 p.m. Friday on County Road 637 in Stoddard County, 1 1/2 miles west of Dexter.

He was taken by ambulance to Dexter Memorial Hospital.

The accident occurred as a southbound car driven by Jimmy Comstock, 46, of Dexter slowed down. Cribbs' southbound car struck Comstock's vehicle. A third southbound car driven by Timothy Jones, 18, of Dexter then struck the other two vehicles.

James Richards, 37, of Evansville, Ill., was injured at 10:15 p.m. Friday on U.S. Highway 51 in Perry County, a half mile north of Route H. He was injured when the vehicle he was driving ran off the road and overturned, the patrol said.

Richards was taken to Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville.

No condition reports were available from any of the hospitals Saturday night.
