MARBLE HILL -- A Bollinger County deputy sheriff and an elderly couple were injured Friday afternoon when their cars collided on Highway 34.
Dep. Kendall Ward, 33 of Zalma, was discharged from St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau after suffering moderate injuries in the accident.
In the second vehicle, driver Norma Crader, 70, was admitted to St. Francis and was in stable condition Friday night.
Her husband, James, 72, was discharged. Both suffered moderate injuries, and are residents of Marble Hill.
The accident occurred as Ward crested a hill on eastbound Highway 34, swerved to avoid a vehicle in his lane and struck the Craders' vehicle, which was westbound, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The Bollinger County Sheriff's Department would not release any information on the accident, which happened at 2:38 p.m. about two miles east of Marble Hill.
Ward was apparently in pursuit of a suspect when the accident occurred, but no further information was available.
