CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Three Chaffee residents are in custody on drug and counterfeiting charges.
According to a release from the Scott County Sheriff's Department, an undercover deputy went outside Chaffee to meet with Anthony Sagers and Jason Weaver on the premise of selling narcotic prescription pills. Sagers and Weaver discussed the price they wanted to pay for the pills and bought them from the undercover deputy.
Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter and deputies arrested Sagers and Weaver. Deputies also found a glass pipe in Sagers' vehicle; it tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the release.
Deputies went to Sagers' home on County Highway 209 and received permission to search. Inside was Jessica Sagers. Officers found a cut straw, a mirror and a set of scales on the bed where she had been. Some of the items were found with white residue on them that tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the news release.
All three were arrested and taken to the Scott County Jail.
On Thursday, detectives talked to Jessica Sagers about making counterfeit bills and equipment to make them. She gave officers permission to look through her cell phone.
Detectives found a photograph on the phone of four $20 bills with the same serial number. Detectives found another photograph with more $20 bills with the same serial number.
Jessica Sagers told officers she was not making counterfeit money, but a friend had come over to make the bills. Sagers admitted to using some of the counterfeit money in Chaffee. Officers found a printer and paper used to make the counterfeit money on Sagers' property.
Anthony Sagers, 30, is charged with felony possession of a forging instrument and three counts of a felony possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and several traffic violations.
Jessica Sagers, 30, is charged with felony possession of a forging instrument, felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Weaver, 40, is charged with the felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Anthony and Jessica Sagers remain in custody at the Scott County Jail with bond set at $5,000 cash or surety. Weaver's bond was set by the court at $5,000 cash or surety but was reduced to $2,500 cash or surety by the courts.
Walter said counterfeit money was passed throughout the area. The bills range from $5 to $20. The following are some of the serial numbers being used on the bills: JL40333768F, JG26117235B, JD26758786A, MJ46290650A, ML14743170, MG64169613BG7, MD36399458A for the $20 bills and JCO3742420A for the $5 bills.
