Three Cape Girardeau residents have received scholarships from Mercantile Bank of Cape Girardeau to attend Southeast Missouri State University during the 1992-93 academic year. Three Cape Girardeau residents have received scholarships from Mercantile Bank of Cape Girardeau to attend Southeast Missouri State University during the 1992-93 academic year.

The students are James T. Woods, Karen A. Crain and June M. Weaver.

The Mercantile scholarship was established to help students who are in good standing with the university obtain a college education.

Woods is a senior at Southeast, pursuing a double major in physical education and general studies. He and his wife, Vickie, have two children.

In addition to the Mercantile scholarship, Crain also has received the George A. Dempster Memorial Scholarship. The Dempster scholarship is open to business majors with 45 credit hours at the time of application. A good academic record and promise of success in the field of study are two criteria used for selecting recipients.

Crain is a senior at Southeast, majoring in marketing. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Kuehle of Cape Girardeau.

Weaver has also received another scholarship. She is a recipient of the Francis and Neil Crowley Spanish Club Scholarship. The scholarship is offered as a competition among club members who have the appropriate grade point average in their general studies and in foreign languages. Four scholarships are awarded, two in the amount of $800 and two for $500.

Weaver is a senior at Southeast, majoring in secondary education. She plans to be a teacher of Spanish. She has three children.
