OAK RIDGE -- Three area teachers will attend the seventh Teachers, Industry and the Environment workshop in Jefferson City.

Melody F. Greene from Oak Ridge R-VI, Tammie Lukefahr from Perryville High School, and Lisa Gariepy from Charleston High School will participate in the workshop March 7-9.

Teacher selection for this workshop is through written recommendation by Missouri secondary school principals in both public and private educational institutions.

The program is sponsored by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Central Missouri State University and the Chemical Council of Missouri.

Keynote speaker will be Mark W. Atwood, vice president of the agricultural division of American Cyanamid Company. He will discuss "Issues in Food Safety."

Other lecture topics include "Twinkies as Health Food" and "Trends in Government Regulations of Food."

In addition teachers will receive new ideas and demonstrations for use in the classroom.
