The Scott County government announced a couple of weeks ago that it would use county prisoners to help remove from alongside county roads the debris left over from last month's major ice storm. Late last week the prisoners started doing the actual cleaning, and county officials say the free labor will save the county quite a chunk of money.Click here for more on this story from the Standard Democrat newspaper in Sikeston.
The FBI and police agencies in Stoddard County are seeking information on what may be a case of foul play. The agencies are checking to see if anyone knows a woman whose remains were found in New Mexico, and who may have come from Stoddard County.Click here for more on this story.
