Yesterday people across the country were talking about Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich's arrest on bribery charges. Of course, the news hit close to home for President-elect Barack Obama, whose Senate seat Blagojevich is accused of trying to sell.

Some serious news and some weird news out of Jackson today.
A water main break has led authorities to issue a precautionary boil water order for the Annwood Estates subdivision in Jackson through Friday morning. And just a bit before that water main busted, a helium balloon took out power to about 30 customers in the city when it hit a transformer.
State Sen. Jason Crowell wants to honor the area's war dead from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan by putting their names in some of the most prominent places possible — on interstate exit signs along I-55.

One of three finalists in the search for a new Southeast Missouri State University athletic director pulled his name out of the search today. Timothy Hall, currently the athletic director at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, announced he's withdrawing from the field today, a day before he was scheduled to come to the university for a public forum.
