Main Street Bar to stay open

We learned today the Main Street Bar will stay open for an unknown amount of time, despite the revocation of its liquor license following incidents of unruly crowds, including a September police shooting there.

The bar's license, along with the license of Independence Place because it's owned by the same person, will stay valid until a resolution is made in an appeal filed by owner Rick Werner.

County commission approves senior board spending proposals

The Cape Girardeau County Commission gave unanimous approval today to the recommendations made by the county's senior board for spending grant money marked for senior services.

Mississippi County uranium testing moves foward

Since a plan for uranium testing in Mississippi County was announced months ago, the idea has become quite controversial. The Sierra Club's local chapter has weighed in strongly against the testing.
