MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Well-known musicians The Melroys will make a special appearance at 7 p.m. Saturday at the street dance to be held on Presnell Street during the Bollinger County Fair.

The Melroys are Gregg Hopkins on bass and vocals, Jordan Leiner on guitars and vocals, and Mike Enderle on drums and percussion. The band, formed in 1999, was originally a four-piece group including Jordan's dad, Randy Leiner, on guitar and vocals. Randy Leiner also wrote most of the band's original songs. He died in 2005, but the band has continued as a trio. Jordan Leiner has written many of the band's newer songs.

Fans of the band have coined the term "Beatlebilly" to describe The Melroys sound, which incorporates rockabilly and rock rhythms. Their influences include Elvis, Chuck Berry, the Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Tom Petty among others, and the band incorporates songs by those artists in their performances.
