It started out with a drop of rain or maybe two or three
But none of us will e're forget the flood of 93.
The Mississippi, long and lean, was placid in its bed
and no one dreamed what lay ahead till it reared its ugly head.
By the time it got to Iowa it was running mean and free,
it jumped a levee at Quincy town and put them to their knees.
The Missouri River was all pumped up from rain out in the West Jeff City fell, and other towns, that could not stand the test.
They raced along, two ' muddy giants, with destruction in their way.
We all knew when they joined up, that there'd be hell to pay.
Kaskaskia Island, Ste. Genevieve, Miller City, too,
Perryville, Chester town, McBride, to name a few.
The good and bad, and rich and poor all suffered just alike, and many a person stood with them to fight it day and night.
For those with broken minds and hearts, we hold you up to God in prayer,
help us all to do our parts and hope our help will all be there.
