HAYTI, Mo. -- A Tennessee man faces murder charges for the death of a Hayti man.
Bert Allen Ellison, 41, of Bradford, Tennessee, was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action, according to Pemiscot County Sheriff Tommy Greenwell.
Ellison is charged in connection with the death of David M. "Trey" Phelps, 26, of Hayti, who was found between 5 and 6 a.m. Thursday lying dead next to his car in his driveway at 915 Swan Lake Drive in Hayti.
The investigation was conducted by the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Office, Hayti Police Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control and the Caruthersville Police Department.
Ellison is being held in the Pemiscot County Jail with no bond and will appear at 10 a.m. Monday in Division 2 Court before Judge William Carter.
