The American Heart Association will conduct its third annual "Teleparty" Sunday to raise money.
Four teams will take pledges from friends and relatives from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Phone calls will be made from Southeast Missouri Hospital and St. Francis Medical Center.
Team captains are Harold Tilly for the Bypass Boosters, Michelle Doughten for the Cardiac Callers, Calvin Wells for the Artery Articulators and Sahar Doris for the Vein Seekers. Each caller has a goal of $250 and each team a goal of $1.250.
In addition, celebrity callers will be telephoning for pledges. City officials from Cape Girardeau and Jackson will compete for funds. Among celebrities are Jackson Mayor Paul Sander and Cape Girardeau mayor pro tem Melvin Gateley, chiefs of police, school superintendents, city managers and fire chiefs in each city.
Gateley and Doughten serve as chairmen for the event.
