The Teen Pregnancy and Responsibility Network will celebrate 10 years of helping area youth with an open house from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Cape Girardeau County Health Department.
Featured speaker will be Carrie Peters, a woman with AIDS who has devoted her life to educating others about the disease.
Donna Fields, a charter member of the network, said the group was a result of several people who were concerned about teen pregnancy. They pooled their resources.
In the last 10 years, they have sponsored nationally recognized speakers to discuss teen pregnancy, AIDS and peer pressure. The network produces an updated booklet telling where teens can go for health services. There is also a support group for teen mothers and their parents, which sponsors hope will prevent second and third children while mothers still are young.
For more information, call the Health Department at 335-7846.
