TCI Cablevision has announced the launching of Primestar, a new television and digital quality audio service now available to rural residents in a 50-mile radius of Cape Girardeau. The program targets customers not now serviced by cable television.
Primestar utilizes a small satellite dish in combination with a sophisticated receiver to receive KU band television programming.
The service offers superstations such as WGN (Chicago), WWOR (New York), WTBS (Atlanta), WPIX (New York), KTVU (San Fransisco), WSBK (Boston), KTLA (Los Angeles), plus TV Japan and Prime Audio. Pay-per-view services are also available.
Service includes an installation fee, and monthly charge of $29.95. The cable company then maintains the dish and equipment.
TCI Manager Roger Harms said they hope to serve 1,000 customers or more.
Additional information is available by calling TCI Cable, 334 Christine, at 335-4225.
